The Lilly Library will host a pop-up exhibition that honors the world of Jane Austen as part of First Thursdays on Nov. 6. The free event will include the library’s romance collections, Regency romance activities, birthday cake and a limited giveaway of paperback copies of “Pride and Prejudice.” Free copies of the classic novel will also be shared throughout November at other events and various library locations to encourage students to read it before the 2005 film adaptation is screened Dec. 13 at IU Cinema.

An e-book version of “Pride and Prejudice” with unlimited access is also available anytime through IU Libraries.

In December, a first-edition copy will be on display in the Lilly Library’s public gallery.

Special events continue in February with adaptations of Austen’s work from IU Theatre and IU Jacobs Opera and Ballet Theater.

IU Theatre will perform a stage version of “Pride and Prejudice” Feb. 13 to 21 at Ruth N. Halls Theatre.

IU Jacobs Opera and Ballet Theater will premiere “Mansfield Park,” an opera based on Austen’s novel that follows a young woman as she is sent to live with wealthy relatives, Feb. 13 and 14 at the Musical Arts Center at IU Bloomington. The opera will also be performed Feb. 20 and 21 at the Madam Walker Legacy Center in Indianapolis.
