The Great Rewiring: Youth, Social Media, and the Future of Human Capital,” a conversation with 2025-26 Poynter chairs Jonathan Haidt and Jean Twenge, will take place March 11 at IU Cinema.

Haidt, an author and social psychologist at New York University’s Stern School of Business, and Twenge, a professor of psychology at San Diego State University who has written more than 190 scientific publications and books, will discuss the impact of social media and internet technology on young people and how it bears on the future of our collective potential.

The conversation will be moderated by Todd Haugh, professor of business law and ethics at the IU Kelley School of Business and member of the board of the Poynter Center.

The event is presented by the Poynter Center and co-sponsored by the Institute for Corporate Governance and Ethics.

Twenge will also visit the Bloomington campus March 5 and 6 to discuss her research with faculty and students.
