Response to attack on Ukraine

The Indiana University community has been horrified by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which violates international law and threatens regional and global peace and stability.
Earlier this week, we released a statement expressing our deep concern for the safety of the people of Ukraine — including our own alumni, researchers, international partners, and the families of our students, faculty and staff.
We are also concerned for the well-being of the Ukrainian students and scholars currently on our campuses, and have reached out directly to offer support and connect them to available resources as they navigate this crisis.
As an academic community, we also have a special role to play in advancing understanding of these events and finding ways to assist those affected. This week the Robert F. Byrnes Russian and East European Institute organized a three-day Teach-In on Russia’s attack on Ukraine, convening experts who brought diverse experiences and disciplinary perspectives to bear in exploring the attack and its implications.
With the support of the recently launched Center on Refugee Studies, efforts are also underway to secure funding for IU to host a Ukrainian scholar through the IIE Scholar Rescue Fund.
We know that our fellow Hoosiers will want to take action, offer support and find reliable resources to learn more about the crisis as it unfolds. We join the international community in hoping for a speedy and peaceful resolution to this terrible conflict.
