Fun fall activities in Indy

October is a time for apple-picking, pumpkin-carving and spooky Halloween fun. Enjoy fall traditions at these Indianapolis-area locations within a 30-minute drive from campus: 

Pumpkin patches and apple orchards

Anderson Orchard

Where: 369 E. Greencastle Road in Mooresville.
Drive time from campus: 29 minutes.
Hours: Open daily, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or until it gets dark.

Pick your own apples, pumpkins and other seasonal produce. Apple cider, caramel apples, fried apple pie and more are also sold in the apple barn.

Hogan Farms

Where: 8900 E. County Road 1000N in Brownsburg.
Drive time from campus: 28 minutes.
Hours: Open 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to the U-pick pumpkin patch, enjoy the corn maze, hay rides and more. Hogan Farms is also pet-friendly.

Pleasant View Orchards

Where: 10721 N. County Road 850W in Fairland.
Drive time from campus: 26 minutes.
Hours: Open daily, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pick your own apples, visit the pumpkin patch or take a wagon ride. You can also enjoy homemade treats like hot apple cobbler a la mode and fried biscuits with apple butter.

Tuttle Orchards

Where: 5717 N. County Road 300W in Greenfield.
Drive time from campus: 29 minutes.
Hours: Open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Go apple picking, cut your own bouquet of flowers, explore the corn maze and more just east of Indianapolis. Produce and your fall favorite treats like caramel apples and apple cider doughnuts are also available for purchase.

Waterman’s Family Farm

Where: 7010 E. Raymond St. in Indianapolis.
Drive time from campus: 21 minutes.
Hours: Fall Harvest Festival is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays; Mondays are open for a sensory-friendly experience. 

Enjoy hayrides, check out the pumpkin-chomping dinosaur, feed the farm animals and pick your own pumpkin. Admission is $13 on weekdays and $15 on the weekends. Children ages 2 and younger are free.

Fright Manor

Where: 350 Anniston Drive in Indianapolis.
Drive time from campus: 19 minutes.

Hanna Haunted Acres

Where: 7323 E. Hanna Ave. in Indianapolis.
Drive time from campus: 22 minutes.
Cost: $28 to $39

Haunted Angelus

Where: 8829 E. Washington St. in Indianapolis.
Drive time from campus: 15 minutes.
Cost: $16

Nightmare on Edgewood

Where: 1959 S. Meridian St. in Indianapolis.
Drive time from campus: 9 minutes.
Cost: $30 to $50

Nightmare on Edgewood is a full-contact haunted attraction, meaning actors can touch you.
