IU eTexts and the IU Bookstore, Follett Discover, are accepting orders for winter 2025 and spring 2026.
Placing course material orders before student registration helps students budget effectively, reducing financial stress and setting them up for success. Submitting orders on time also ensures that IU complies with the Higher Education Opportunity Act.
There are several options for ordering materials.
IU eTexts
IU eTexts is a teaching and learning initiative created and managed by University Information Technology Services. Use the “IU eTexts Portal” on One.IU.edu to begin an order.
A few reminders regarding this option:
- If you are signed into One.IU, your assigned course(s) will display the IU eTexts Order Tool when you launch the IU eTexts Portal. Follow the on-screen prompts to make selections for your courses.
- The ordering tool is only open for self-ordering during specific timeframes. Orders can be placed after self-ordering closes by following the IU eTexts Post Deadline Ordering.
- Use the IU eTexts Catalog tab in the top navigation pane to search for course materials by title, publisher, ISBN or any material data. The catalog is open to instructors year-round.
- Need help? Ordering instructions are available on the Canvas resource site, IU eTexts: A Faculty and Staff Introduction. If you still have questions or need assistance, use the IU eTexts: Ask Us! form to contact the IU eTexts team.
Follett Discover portal
The Follett Discover portal, run by IU Bookstore operator Follett Higher Education Group, can be found by searching “Order Textbooks/Course Materials (Faculty)” inside One.IU.
A few reminders regarding this option:
- If you’re signed into One.IU, your assigned course(s) will display when you launch the adoption tool. Click the top of each unique course tile to make selections for that course.
- You can use the global search in the upper-right-hand corner to find course materials and supplies by keyword, author, title or 13-digit ISBN number. Alternatively, you can type in a subject to discover new materials.
- Once everything is set, click “adopt” to submit your course selections.
Faculty and department administrators will also be able to try a new, improved Follett Discover experience. Designed in partnership with faculty, the latest version features a cleaner, modern look and feel, as well as a more transparent and efficient re-adoption process.
Faculty and administrators can learn more about the improvements in Follett’s FAQ and teaser video.
Follett and the IU Bookstore also offer a price match program that allows the bookstore to match textbooks prices from retailers like Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Adjustments can be made at the campus bookstore register within seven days of purchase with a screenshot of the lower price.
Open educational resources
Open educational resources are teaching and learning materials that are either available in the public domain or are shared under a license that allows free use and revision.
A few reminders here:
- See what is available by searching the Open Textbook Library Once you have located a title, order it through the IU eTexts initiative for digital delivery at no cost to your students.
- For more information about ordering other open-access content for the Engage e-reader, contact IU eTexts: Ask Us!
