Benefits Open Enrollment for full-time Indiana University faculty and staff is underway. Until Nov. 14, employees can review plan changes for the upcoming year, and update or renew their IU benefits, with changes going into effect Jan. 1, 2026. Follow the link below or search for the Open Enrollment task in One.IU to enroll online.
Log in to enroll in 2026 benefits
If you do nothing during Open Enrollment:
- Your medical, dental, health savings account, critical illness insurance and supplemental accidental death & dismemberment insurance will automatically roll over and continue in 2026.
- You will not be enrolled in the healthcare or dependent care flexible spending account. You must re-enroll in these accounts each year to participate.
If you do participate in Open Enrollment, you can:
- Medical: Add, change, or drop coverage and dependents. Thinking about switching plans? Check out these premium and coverage examples, cost comparisons, and key considerations.
- Health savings account: If you enroll in the Anthem HDHP, the high-deductible health plan, you’re also eligible for the HSA. You can contribute any amount between $300 and the IRS limit, and IU will contribute either $1,000 or $2,000 depending on your coverage level. If you’ll be 55 or older in 2026, you can also add the $1,000 catch-up contribution.
- Dental: Add, change, or drop coverage and dependents.
-
Flexible spending accounts:
- Healthcare FSA: Contribute any amount up to the IRS limit ($3,300 for 2026). You must re-enroll each year to participate.
- Dependent Care FSA: Contribute any amount up to the IRS limit ($7,500 per household for 2026). You must re-enroll each year to participate.
- Supplemental AD&D insurance: Add, change, or drop coverage for yourself and your family.
- Critical illness insurance: Add, change, or drop coverage for yourself and your family.
Even if you’re not making changes, it’s important to review your benefits to ensure that they still fit your needs and that you’re taking full advantage of the programs and features associated with each plan. This is also a good time to review your beneficiaries and read important federal notices about your rights as a benefits-eligible employee.
Enroll online by Nov. 14
- To select your benefits, log in to the Employee Center and select the Open Enrollment tile.
- Follow the prompts to review each benefit plan and enroll/make changes as desired.
- Once you’ve reviewed all the plans, select the Submit button pinned to the bottom of the screen. Don’t skip this step; if you do, your elections won’t be saved.
- Once you’ve submitted your elections, you’ll see an on-screen confirmation. Select Done to complete the enrollment process.
An email confirming that your elections were submitted will be sent to your IU email address within two business days. If you don’t receive this email, it means that your benefits weren’t submitted, and you need to log back in to the Open Enrollment system and re-submit your elections.
You can change and re-submit your elections as many times as you need during the Open Enrollment period — just don’t forget to hit submit before the Nov. 14 deadline.
