Reminder: Starting Jan. 1, Emburse expenses over 60 days old will be taxed

By IU Today

December 10, 2025

Tax reporting for Accountable Plan expenses — such as travel, P-Card purchases and reimbursements — begins Jan. 1, 2026. From that date forward, any expenses more than 60 days old will be treated as taxable income when submitted in Emburse Enterprise. Please submit your expenses before winter break.

As of Jan. 1, the following expenses will count as over 60 days old and be taxable:

  • Travel expenses with a trip end date on or before Nov. 2.
  • Non-travel expenses (P-Card or out-of-pocket) with a purchase date on or before Nov. 2.

Reimbursements more than 120 days old are already automatically blocked by Emburse. The reimbursements below will be blocked after Jan. 1:

  • Travel expenses with a trip end date on or before Sept. 3.
  • Non-travel out-of-pocket expenses purchased on or before Sept. 3.
