The Indiana University Foundation has selected Paul J. Clifford as its next chief alumni officer and senior vice president for lifelong engagement and giving, effective Jan. 20.
Clifford will lead a digital-forward, relationship-oriented strategy to connect IU’s global community of Hoosiers, which has officially become the largest community of degree-holding alumni in the nation.
“At Indiana, lifelong alumni connection is not an aspiration; it’s a promise,” Clifford said. “I am humbled by the opportunity to keep this promise alongside dedicated professionals and volunteers as we lead a global alumni movement in support of IU’s mission.”
A visionary leader with 30 years of experience, Clifford joins the IU Foundation from Penn State, where he revolutionized alumni models and grew association endowments by 128%. His career includes key roles at other notable institutions, including the University of Oregon, East Carolina University and the University of Connecticut. He will champion a digital-first, relationship-driven strategy to deepen alumni connections to IU and one another around the globe.
