Indiana University regularly reviews the university-sponsored retirement plans, fees and investment options to ensure they remain competitive. Following a recent review, the annual recordkeeping fee for the IU 457(b) supplemental retirement plan was reduced from $45 to $44 effective Oct. 1, 2025. This will be reflected on participants’ quarterly account statements.
Employees currently enrolled in the plan received an email notice from Fidelity last week. No other fee or plan changes are being made, and no action is required.
Employees can access their account statements, name beneficiaries, review their investments and schedule one-on-one financial counseling through Fidelity NetBenefits. Meetings with IU’s dedicated Fidelity Workplace Financial Consultants are available year-round at no cost. Consultants can help employees review their retirement savings strategies, understand the IU investment options and plan for major life changes, such as starting a family or preparing for retirement. Appointments are also available for Spanish-speaking employees. Learn more and schedule a meeting.
For questions or additional information about the fee reduction or the plan, employees may contact Fidelity at 800-343-0860.
As a reminder, all IU employees are eligible to participate in the IU 457(b) Plan, including full-time faculty and staff, part-time (hourly) employees, medical and optometry residents, and student academic appointees. Employees can enroll or make plan changes at any time by submitting an optional benefit change request through the Employee Center or by submitting a Salary Deferral Agreement to IU Human Resources.
