The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Cancer Center Junior Faculty Special Interest Group are inviting proposals for pilot/feasibility research projects. Proposals that would advance the applicants’ career goals can be in any area of basic, translational or clinical cancer research, like diagnostics and therapeutics; and population science research, including prevention, survivorship, quality of life and epidemiology.
The pilot funding is for one year, and the budget should not exceed $50,000. The principal investigator must be an associate or research track member in a Cancer Center research program or a clinical track Cancer Center member at the level of assistant professor, research assistant professor, assistant scientist, associate research professor or research scientist.
Current postdocs and residents/fellows are also eligible, provided they will have a full-time faculty appointment and will be an associate, research or clinical track Cancer Center member at the time of funding awards.
Applicants with prior funding from this mechanism or with current funding from a national competitive research grant are not eligible.
Those interested in applying must submit a notification of intent to apply to Vicki Clements at vlclemen@iu.edu by 5 p.m. April 6.
The notification must include your name, the names of all collaborators/team members, a draft title for your proposal, the members of your mentoring committee (if any), and one to two sentences describing the project.
Notification of Intent can be submitted without Cancer Center membership; however, investigators will need to apply for membership by May 11 and receive approval by July 1.
Applicants must meet membership criteria as outlined on the website, and approval is not guaranteed. The investigator will be notified of member status approximately three to four weeks after application submission.
