March 26, 2026

Indiana University is seeking a leader to serve as the next Faculty Fellow in the Office of the President.

The fellow will regularly collaborate with the president and other administrators to develop strategies that will strengthen IU’s national and global distinction, advance the IU 2030 strategic plan, and ensure that faculty perspective helps shape critical discussions and decision-making.

Ideal candidates are full-time IU faculty members who have experience engaging with multiple constituencies in the pursuit of shared goals.

In the role, the fellow will liaise with faculty across all campuses, prioritize clear and transparent communication on initiatives and challenges, and cultivate opportunities for richer engagement between the president and faculty members.

The fellow will serve up to a two-year term, beginning July 1, 2026, and succeed Marietta Simpson, Distinguished Professor and Rudy Professor of Music at the IU Jacobs School of Music, who was appointed as the inaugural Faculty Fellow in 2024.

Nominations and applications consisting of a cover letter and CV can be emailed to the IU Executive Search team at exesrch@iu.edu through April 17.

Susan Sciame-Giesecke, former vice president for regional campuses and online education and professor emerita who retired in 2024, is chairing the search committee.

Search committee members are:

  • Susan Popham, University Faculty Council co-chair.
  • Bill Ramos, University Faculty Council co-chair.
  • Marietta Simpson, Faculty Fellow and professor in the Jacobs School of Music at IU Bloomington.
  • Kathleen Marrs, professor in the School of Science at IU Indianapolis.
  • Tim Masterson, professor in the IU School of Medicine.
