Committee named in search for general counsel

A committee has been named in the search for general counsel at Indiana University to succeed Anthony Prather, who will retire from IU on July 1.
General counsel responsibilities include serving as legal advisor to the president, the Board of Trustees and senior university administrators; directing the university’s in-house attorneys and outside counsel retained to represent the university’s interests; and overseeing the offices of Civil Rights Compliance, University Compliance and Internal Audit.
Search committee members are:
- Chair, Todd Richardson, IU chief operating officer.
- Josh Abel, executive vice president and general counsel at the IU Foundation.
- Lisa Beymer, associate vice president and chief audit officer for IU Internal Audit.
- Fred Cate, Distinguished Professor and C. Ben Dutton Professor of Law in the Maurer School of Law at IU Bloomington.
- Jay Gladden, provost and executive vice chancellor at IU Indianapolis.
- Benjamin Hunter, associate vice president and superintendent for IU Public Safety.
- Jennifer Kincaid, associate vice president in the IU Office of Civil Rights Compliance.
- Andrea Newsom, senior associate general counsel in the IU Office of the Vice President and General Counsel.
- Marietta Simpson, Faculty Fellow in the Office of the President and Distinguished and Rudy Professor of Music in the Jacobs School of Music at IU Bloomington.
