Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

By Healthy IU and Human Resources

September 23, 2021

suicide prevention month logo September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month — a time to help reduce the stigma associated with seeking help by bringing awareness to the warning signs and the resources available to prevent it.

Employees interested in learning more can visit Healthy IU’s suicide prevention resource page. Included are articles, videos and courses to help you understand the warning signs of suicide, how to approach and speak to someone in a crisis, and how to connect them with help. Contact details for crisis resources are also listed.

As a reminder, IU employees and their household members have access to free, confidential support and referrals through SupportLinc employee assistance program. Clinicians are available 24/7 to help with a wide array of personal and work-related concerns over the phone, as well as by text or by video. Call 888-881-LINC (5462) or visit SupportLinc.com.

If you or someone you know is facing an emergency, contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or call 911 immediately.
