Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I’m excited to share with you a sneak peek at our latest Vision 2024 video, featuring IUPUI faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community.

We continue to make great progress as we finalize the plans for the Vision 2024 realignment of our campus and the launch of IU Indianapolis. Since December, I have had the pleasure of speaking to units across campus at open forums, sharing updates and answering questions. In addition, I have joined alumni groups as well as deans’ advisory board meetings — most recently for the Kelley School and the O’Neill School, respectively — ensuring that these important groups are aware of the changes taking place and the great opportunities the realignment provides.

Those involved in Vision 2024 planning are keeping top of mind the role IU Indianapolis will play in creating opportunities for students, contributing to the state’s economic growth, and enabling our campus to become one of the nation’s preeminent urban research universities, three closely related aims.

To these three ends, we are engaging leaders from the Indianapolis community who will focus on how best to position IU Indianapolis to address the city’s most pressing needs; capitalize on new opportunities, specifically in STEM and the health sciences sector; and leverage their expertise and networks to draw on and adapt successful models of collaboration among industry, the nonprofit sector and urban research universities. This is an innovative way to engage the community in this important campus-building process, and it reflects the close relationship that our campus has had with the city since the moment of our founding.

As I have said before, I remain tremendously grateful to everyone involved in the process, from those on our task forces to those serving as resources, from those recruiting for our Class of 2024 to those answering current students’ questions, and other people too numerous to mention. Together, we have built the incredibly strong foundation upon which IU Indianapolis will continue to grow.
