In conjunction with the 2023 National Women’s History Month theme, “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories,” Andrea Walton will serve as the keynote speaker of the IUPUI Women’s History Month Recognition Awards ceremony.
Walton, an associate professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at IU Bloomington, is a historian of education with a focus on the history of U.S. higher education, women in education and philanthropy in education.
She will discuss her recently edited and released book, “Women at Indiana University: 150 Years of Experiences and Contributions.”
The book is the first in-depth look at how women have shaped the history and legacy of Indiana University and includes two chapters on women of IUPUI: one about students in the early years of the campus and one focused on the growth of the Women’s Studies Program.
Several IUPUI faculty, staff and students also contributed to the book.
The Women’s History Month awards ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m. March 29 in the Campus Center Theater, with a reception and book signing to follow. The event is open to all.
