March 22, 2023

IUPUI continues to explore the impact of Title IX.

Enacted in 1972, the federal law protects people from sex discrimination in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance.

A Q&A about Title IX’s laws and regulations will be held in the Campus Center Atrium at noon March 28.

Panelists are:

  • Sara Dickey, associate dean of students, and director and deputy Title IX coordinator in the Office of Student Conduct.
  • Viviane Linos, assistant director of interpersonal violence prevention and advocacy with Counseling and Psychological Services.
  • Karloa Stevens, campus director and deputy Title IX coordinator in the Office of Equal Opportunity.

The Cultural Arts Gallery is located in the IU Indianapolis Campus Center. An exhibition at the Cultural Arts Gallery in the Campus Center, on display through March 31, includes representations of various aspects of the landmark legislation, including:

  • Title IX origins.
  • Champions of Title IX.
  • Timeline for the nation and IUPUI.
  • Impact on professional education.
  • 50 years of progress at IUPUI.
  • Athletics.
  • Today’s issues.
  • Complaint procedures.
