February 03, 2025
IU Indianapolis faculty, staff and students can request peer health educators to give free health and wellness presentations to classes, student organizations and other groups.
The educators are student employees who are trained in the Office of Health and Wellness Promotion. They facilitate the content and provide a unique peer-to-peer experience that drives participant interest. Presentations are typically 50 to 75 minutes and engage students in activities and active learning opportunities.
Topics include:
- Stress and time management.
- Mental health and resiliency.
- Seven elements of wellness.
- Nutrition and healthy eating.
- Sexual health.
- Healthy relationships.
- Alcohol awareness.
- Naloxone training.
In the fall 2024 semester, peer health educators gave over 50 presentations to close to 1,200 students.
Requests for presentations should be made at least three weeks in advance. Presentations are available in person or virtually.
