IU Indianapolis professors Elizabeth Kryder-Reid and Laura Holzman were awarded the 2023 Charles R. Bantz Community Fellowship for the project “Indy Toxic Heritage: Pollution, Place and Power.”

They worked with the Kheprw Institute, Indy Parks and Recreation, community-based scholars and activists, and residents of neighborhoods in Norwood, on the southeast side, and Riverside, on the near west side, to solicit and curate stories.

In addition to the traveling exhibit, which will move to the Garfield Park Arts Center in April, the project includes a website and a digital community archive.
