Call for proposals: Pamoja Virtual Symposium

By IU Indianapolis Today

March 07, 2025

Organizers of the Pamoja Virtual Symposium invite proposals for collaborative research projects between investigators at Indiana University Indianapolis and Moi University in Eldoret, Kenya.

The online conference aims to establish new collaborations and strengthen ongoing partnerships between faculty at each institution.

Projects should align with one of the following thematic areas:

  • Climate and the Environment.
  • Health and Wellness.
  • Connected Futures: Society, Culture and the Global Humanities.

The conference on June 23 and 24 will serve as a foundation for developing interdisciplinary research clusters and creating programs to train and mentor early-career researchers at both universities.

Moi University is one of Indiana University’s primary partners and the site of the AMPATH Consortium, a network of academic health centers led by IU.

Submission abstracts should highlight innovative methodologies, community engagement and transnational partnerships, and demonstrate alignment with respective institutional priorities.

A limited amount of research funding will be provided to seed a select number of collaborative projects that emerge from this virtual workshop.

Scholar teams from IU Indianapolis and Moi University interested in participating should submit an abstract of no more than 300 words, graphics as needed, and three to five key words by March 31.
