Ellis appointed interim vice chancellor for enrollment management

Rebecca Bartlett Ellis has been appointed interim vice chancellor for enrollment management at IU Indianapolis, succeeding PJ Woolston, who will be joining the Lumina Foundation.

A transition period will take place, with Ellis’ interim appointment effective immediately and Woolston beginning his new role in mid-April.

Photo by Parker Portraits With extensive experience in enrollment management, Ellis has led initiatives to expand access to nursing education and meet workforce demands. She spearheaded efforts to increase enrollment in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program by 50% in Indianapolis and 20% in Bloomington; co-led the implementation of a $16 million gift from Indiana University Health to support infrastructure for enrolling more students; and developed new admission pathways that help IU recruit and graduate nurses to serve the needs of our state.

Ellis has more than two decades of academic experience in research and faculty roles. Since 2020, she has served as executive associate dean for academic affairs at the IU School of Nursing, overseeing academic affairs, curriculum, student services, faculty development and enrollment strategy for the school’s locations in Bloomington, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis.

Ellis is a tenured professor and has been a faculty member at IU since 2008, serving at both the Columbus and Indianapolis campuses.

As leader of the Division of Enrollment Management, the vice chancellor for enrollment management coordinates undergraduate admissions, financial aid and the services of the registrar’s office for various student populations.
