Kids College is a free, two-week summer camp that gives middle school students an opportunity to experience life on a college campus while exploring real-world careers.
The program on the Indiana University Indianapolis campus pairs field trips to nearby landmarks like the NCAA headquarters and Indiana State Museum with hands-on workshops related to various educational pathways, like nursing and legal studies.
Volunteers can help with outreach and camp preparation June 2 to 6 and/or assist with supporting students and activities during camp June 9 to 20. Potential volunteers are asked to complete a survey by May 23.
As part of their on-campus learning experiences, students will participate in a successful college access and readiness curriculum called Middle School Crew developed by Community & School Partnerships at Indiana University. The curriculum prepares eligible students to complete the 21st Century Scholarship application and fulfill the program’s requirements in middle and high school.
Kids College is made possible through funding from the Lilly Endowment’s Indiana Youth Programs on Campus Initiative.
The program on the Indianapolis campus is hosted by the IU Office of School Partnerships, IU Indianapolis Office of Community Engagement and IU Student Success Corps program.
