Senior Academy expands membership to current employees

The IU Indianapolis Senior Academy has added a new membership option that allows current faculty and staff to join the organization.

The associate member category is open to people over age 55 who are employees on the IU Indianapolis campus. Previously, membership was limited to retired employees.

Photo by Liz Kaye, Indiana University The Senior Academy is an independent association of retired faculty and staff (and now current employees) who are at least 55 years old. The academy promotes and supports the scholarly, professional, educational and service interests of its members, who lend their experience and expertise to serve the campus and broader community in different ways.

Activities include:

  • Mentoring staff, faculty and students.
  • Supporting philanthropic causes, such as student scholarships.
  • Sponsoring awards and events, such as the Last Lecture.
  • Hosting a book club, tours of local landmarks, holiday celebrations and other social gatherings.
  • Hosting seminars on retirement, financial planning, estate planning and tax issues.

Dues are $20 per year for associate members, and $25 per year or $200 for a lifetime membership for full members.

Eligible members can complete an online membership application at any time.
