Photo by Tyler Carrell, Indiana UniversityIndiana University has launched a nationwide search for a proven and innovative leader to serve as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost for the Indianapolis campus.

The person in the role will be the chief academic officer of IU Indianapolis and regional education centers in Fort Wayne and Columbus. They will facilitate the highest quality faculty and foster a culture of educational excellence by providing direction in matters related to academic programs, quality and policies; promotion and tenure; faculty and student recruitment and retention; student success; and campus outreach.

Reporting to the IU Indianapolis chancellor, the position will also promote a campus environment of expansive inclusivity, rigorous intellectual inquiry, and compassionate engagement with the city of Indianapolis, state of Indiana and beyond.

“As we launch IU Indianapolis and transition to R1 status, the role of executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost will be critical in helping to align our highest priorities and ensure that we are represented at the highest levels in national higher education conversations,” IU Indianapolis Chancellor Latha Ramchand said.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong track record as both a successful faculty member and an experienced institutional leader possessing the academic, financial, operational and strategic acumen necessary to provide collaborative and transparent leadership.

All campus deans and several directors of administrative units will report directly to the provost.

Phaedra Corso, associate vice president and vice chancellor for research, and Tamela Eitle, dean of the IU School of Liberal Arts on the Indianapolis campus, are co-chairing the search committee.

Applications should be submitted by July 12 to receive priority consideration. Review of candidates will continue until an appointment is made.
