The 2024 IU Indianapolis United Way fundraising campaign will feature several awareness initiatives and the return of a popular event.

The campaign goes from Sept. 9 to Nov. 1 with a goal of raising $200,000. All proceeds support the United Way of Central Indiana and the local agencies it assists.

A kickoff celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 10 in the Campus Center atrium. Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend to learn about the positive impact the campaign has had on the community, while enjoying light refreshments, music and mingling.

Informational tables will be set up in the Campus Center on various days throughout September and October, where visitors can get information about the United Way, volunteer opportunities, how to donate and more.

The annual silent auction will take place the final week of the campaign. Auction items are donated from various schools and units. Past prizes have included a weeklong stay at Camp Brosius, tickets to an Indianapolis Indians baseball game and overnight stay in the downtown Marriott, roadside emergency kits from Parking and Transportation Services, and an aromatherapy gift basket, just to name a few.

The fundraising push will wrap up Oct. 31 with the return of the popular campaign lunch, now a bruncheon, which was last held before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Spooktacular Bruncheon, from 10 a.m. to noon in Campus Center 450, will include contests for best dressed celebrity server, best decorated table and most tips earned. Those interested in purchasing a department table or being a “celebrity” server should contact Jamie Owens at owensjam@iu.edu.

Those interested in volunteering with the campaign or who have questions can email uway@iu.edu.
