Looking for something to make your spine tingle or scare you out of your socks? Or a place for you or your children to show off cool and creepy costumes and get sweet treats? Staff and faculty have several Halloween options on the Indiana University Bloomington campus.

Safe trick-or-treating

The Panhellenic Association’s annual Safe Halloween Trick-or-Treating event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 26 along David Baker Avenue.

As a collaboration with the Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Mutlicultural Greek Council and community partners, the event offers festive fun such as costume contests with prizes, pizza from Bucceto’s, music and lots of candy.

Annual musical tradition

The family-friendly Dennis James Hosts Halloween begins at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at IU Auditorium. This year, he’s putting a new spin on the annual spooky musical event.

James will play IU Auditorium’s 4,543 pipe organ during a live reenactment of the 1940 radio drama series “Suspense” that will include star students from the Department of Theatre, Drama and Contemporary Dance. It’s the first time live actors have been a part of James’ annual Halloween event.

James will also present a traditional silent film, the 1927 thriller “The Unknown,” with live accompaniment. Patrons can participate in an all-ages costume party before the show and have a chance to win prizes, including tickets to “Chimes of Christmas” at IU Auditorium and Pizza X gift cards.

An artsy Halloween

Staff and faculty, their children and the public can try Halloween at the IU Eskenazi Museum of Art from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 29. It features a costume contest, trick-or-treating at the galleries and the Murder and Mayhem Tour that shares dramatic true tales. Afterward, cookies and apple cider will be served.
