Where to eat: What’s new at the IMU

By IU Dining and IMU

August 20, 2021

Plenty of new food options are available at the Indiana Memorial Union, thanks to its dining renovation project.

Take a look at what’s changed:

  • The Lantern: Pan-Asian-style street kitchen featuring dishes such as chicken tikka masala, teriyaki chicken with broccoli and Thai wings.
  • The Mix: Salads, soup and more.
  • Quarry Pie Co.: Pizza that is made on site and cooked in a fire oven. Pasta, meatballs and salads are also available.
  • Whitfield Grill: Burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, fries and more are available on a classic diner-inspired menu.

The Vault Pub, where Dunn Meadow Café was located, will open at a later date.

And don’t forget The Globe, which offers food from popular local restaurants on a rotating basis. The restaurants include Taste of India, Pili’s Party Taco, Amrit India and Bivi’s Tamales for lunch, and Lotus Garden, Taste of India, Sofra Cafe, Oasis Chinese Restaurant, Bivi’s Tamales and Amrit India for dinner.

Sugar & Spice + Chocolate Moose

Don’t forget: Sugar & Spice and The Chocolate Moose are sharing space in their new digs, too.

Sugar & Spice sells pastries, cookies and other sweet treats, which are made daily on site. Hot and cold coffee are also served.

And Chocolate Moose – a Bloomington tradition in since 1933 – offers classic ice cream flavors as well as special options.

Tudor Room

The Tudor Room will reopen Aug. 24 as a buffet. Midday service will be offered Tuesday through Friday, with brunch on Sunday. Reservations are encouraged and can be made through Open Table.

Starbucks

Like other local restaurants and businesses, IU Dining is affected by the labor shortage being experienced across the country. As a result, Starbucks in the IMU will not open this week. IU Bloomington Today will share more details later.
