Trevor Verrot.Following an open search, Trevor Verrot has been selected as the assistant dean for student development in the Indiana University Graduate School Bloomington; he began his appointment Aug. 2. He previously served as associate director of graduate career education at the College of Arts and Sciences’ Walter Center for Career Achievement.

“Trevor comes to us as a valued collaborator with significant experience in graduate career services, the ability to develop successful programs and a great knowledge of the landscape of graduate student development needs on our campus,” said David Daleke, dean of the IU Graduate School Bloomington and vice provost for graduate education and health sciences.

Before joining IU Bloomington as a career coach in 2018, Verrot spent four years as a lecturer at the University of New Hampshire and a year as an instructor at the Bloomington campus of Ivy Tech Community College.

In his most recent role as associate director of graduate career education, Verrot collaborated across and beyond campus to research, develop and evaluate resources, studies and initiatives relevant to graduate student career and professional development. He oversaw workshops, career coaching and special programming while advising individual departments, programs and university stakeholders.

Verrot earned master’s degrees in the history of art and medieval art and architecture from Yale University. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan.

“Building on my work in the College of Arts and Sciences, I am excited to deepen and extend my work with graduate students campus-wide,” Verrot said. “There are so many fantastic opportunities that arise from graduate study; I am here to help graduate students take full advantage.”

In his new role, Verrot manages career and professional development programming for graduate students and postdocs; directing the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs; interfacing with the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning; managing the Future Faculty Teaching Fellows Program; working closely with the Walter Center; serving as a campus co-leader for the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning; and guiding the Graduate Grants Center.
