Indiana University Bloomington will host its New Employee Welcome Event from 2 to 4 p.m. April 7 at the Indiana Memorial Union Alumni Hall and Solarium. Organized by the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President, this event will provide a welcoming and informative atmosphere for new staff members as they begin their careers at IU.

“We’re excited to welcome our newest colleagues and help them navigate their new environment,” said Jamie Gayer, senior director of human resources for the Bloomington campus. “This event is more than just an introduction to resources; it’s an opportunity for new staff to start building their identity within the IU community. We want them to understand how they fit into the broader campus story, beyond just their individual units or schools. Helping them feel supported, connected and part of something greater is a vital part of IU’s commitment to employee success.”

This first event is specifically for employees hired on or after Jan. 1, 2025, providing them with an opportunity to connect with campus resources and get acclimated to their new roles. The gathering will feature a resource fair, where departments and units across the university will have the opportunity to connect with new employees.

Attendees can look forward to meeting over 20 representatives from the Bloomington Staff Council, Dining and Hospitality, Parking, Printing Services, Cinema, Libraries, Early Childhood Education Services, Public Safety, Human Resources, Campus Wellness and more.

“The resource fair is a unique opportunity for units to showcase what they offer, whether it’s support services, development programs or campus initiatives,” said Raluca Glunk, a staff engagement specialist in the provost’s office. “By connecting new employees with these resources early on, we set them up for success.”

The event promises to be an engaging and dynamic experience for everyone involved, with light snacks provided to keep energy high and ensure a balance of information and enjoyment. Moving forward, this welcoming program will be held quarterly, offering new employees an ongoing opportunity to connect, learn and integrate into the IU Bloomington community.
