IU Bloomington will host two events highlighting the work of IU faculty and students in the climate, environment and sustainability space on April 30. Attendees can also learn about opportunities to advance climate research goals at IU.
ERI Research Symposium & Luncheon
The Environmental Resilience Institute Research Symposium & Luncheon will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the Dogwood Room of the Indiana Memorial Union.
The event will showcase the research of IU faculty and graduate students from a wide range of disciplines, along with opportunities for collaboration.
Daniel Vimont, a climate researcher and director of the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies’ Center for Climatic Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will give the keynote talk. He will discuss the center’s efforts to connect leading climate scientists with researchers in geography, botany, oceanography and other disciplines to investigate past, present and future climates, and explore their implications for climate change.
Following the talk, attendees are invited to participate in a workshop focused on opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within the climate and sustainability spheres at IU. Faculty and graduate students are encouraged to register for the research symposium in advance.
IU Sustainability Symposium
IU students’ accomplishments and scholarship will be recognized during the annual IU Sustainability Symposium at 3 p.m. in Presidents Hall at Franklin Hall.
The program will feature student work in a variety of formats and recognize the contributions of students, faculty, staff, administrators and community members who are making IU more sustainable. Remarks will be shared by Provost Rahul Shrivastav, Vice President for Capital Planning and Facilities Thomas Morrison, Chief Sustainability Officer Jessica Davis and others.
Attendees are encouraged to register for the sustainability symposium, which is jointly hosted by IU Sustainability, the Environmental Resilience Institute and the Integrated Program in the Environment.
