Members of the IU Bloomington campus community are encouraged to attend a ceremony this month to honor faculty, staff and students who have died over the past year.
“Remembering Hoosiers: A Memorial Service for IU Bloomington Faculty, Staff and Students” will take place at 4 p.m. March 26 at Presidents Hall in Franklin Hall. The event is new this year, and was broadened from a former event solely honoring students.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP online.
“It is our hope that this inaugural ceremony of remembrance will bring senses of comfort and connection to all those who have lost loved ones in the past year,” IU Bloomington Provost Rahul Shrivastav said. “This gathering is an expression of how we value and care for all members of our campus community, including those who have passed, and I look forward to sharing in this tradition for years to come.”
A work group made up of representatives from various campus units — including the Office of the Provost, IU Human Resources, the Office of Student Life, the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs, University Events, and campus clergy and student representatives — met for several months to plan the new event.
