Search launched for next associate vice president and vice chancellor for research, IU Bloomington

Indiana University has launched an internal search for the next associate vice president for research and vice chancellor for research, IU Bloomington. This follows the announcement of Brea Perry’s decision to step down from the role this summer.
This key leadership role is central to advancing the ambitious goals of the IU 2030 strategic plan, including those specific to Bloomington. The position reports jointly to the IU Vice President for Research Russell J. Mumper and the incoming IU Bloomington Chancellor David Reingold.
The associate vice president and vice chancellor for research will develop and lead research development activities; engage IU Bloomington faculty and foster large-scale, interdisciplinary research, including research teams that engage and amplify IU Bloomington faculty expertise aligned with the strategic plan.This person will also incentivize translational research activities at IU and continue to advance the new framework for research space allocation on campus.
“I want to first thank Brea Perry for her exceptional leadership and service during her tenure as associate vice president and vice provost for research, during which she significantly strengthened our research infrastructure and culture of collaboration,” Mumper said. “IU Bloomington is a world-class research campus with faculty expertise that spans every major field of inquiry. This position is critical to helping our faculty accelerate their work and build collaborations that make a lasting impact. The role will be integral in developing and building a productive partnership with Chancellor Reingold.”
The new leader will continue supporting faculty, advancing interdisciplinary partnerships and ensuring Bloomington remains a national leader in innovative research.
The position is open to tenured, full professors on the Bloomington campus. Interested applicants should submit a CV and cover letter by Friday, June 20. The selected candidate will begin on or about Monday, Aug. 4.
The search committee is co-chaired by Distinguished Professor and Herman B Wells Endowed Professor Kosali Simon at the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and Amar Flood, Professor of Chemistry at the College of Arts and Sciences.
