Join the Kinsey Institute and the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design for a special talk with famed artist and photographer David Levinthal at 5 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Grunwald Gallery of Art in the Fine Arts Building.
Levinthal is renowned for his meticulously crafted scenes and use of large-format Polaroid cameras to achieve trompe l’oeil realism with his photos of dolls that explore the relationship between the fantasies, myths, events and characters that shape contemporary American’s mental landscape.
His work is exhibited widely and part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Carnegie Museum of Art and Smithsonian American Art Museum, among other notable museums. The Kinsey Institute holds an important collection of his work, which was recently expanded with a generous donation from the artist.
