The IUPUI community will gather to honor Chancellor Nasser Paydar on Feb. 16.

While the in-person portion of the event at Hine Hall is filled, members of the IUPUI community are encouraged to join a Zoom meeting at the same time. Register to join the virtual event.

Paydar, who has served as chancellor of IUPUI and executive vice president for Indiana University since 2015, will retire March 1. He is IUPUI’s fifth chancellor and has been an IU faculty member for more than 36 years. He has held various administrative and executive leadership positions since he joined IUPUI in 1985 as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering in the School of Engineering and Technology.

The university has launched a tribute website in honor of Paydar, and members of the IUPUI community are encouraged to visit the site to sign a virtual guestbook.

In addition, the university has created the Nasser H. Paydar Chancellor’s Inclusive Excellence Scholarship. The scholarship, which will exist in perpetuity, has been established to honor Paydar’s leadership, especially in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion at IUPUI.

As part of its mission, IUPUI is committed to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment. Reflecting this commitment, special consideration for this scholarship will be given to students from underrepresented populations, including those with financial challenges and diverse cultural experiences. The IU Foundation has committed a $50,000 challenge gift to encourage others to support the scholarship.
