A former IUPUI dean and accomplished faculty member will serve as interim chancellor of IUPUI as the search for a permanent campus leader continues.
Andrew R. Klein, the Paul E. Beam Professor of Law in the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law at IUPUI, will take on the interim duties beginning March 1.
“Andy has been deservedly recognized for his deep commitment to student success, ” President Pamela Whitten said. “His proven leadership abilities will help guide the tremendous progress at IUPUI as we continue efforts to identify our next chancellor.”
Klein joined the McKinney Law faculty in 2000, where he served as associate dean for academic affairs. He later served as chief of staff in the Office of the Chancellor and associate vice chancellor for academic affairs at IUPUI. He was appointed dean of the McKinney School of Law in 2013 until his return to the faculty in 2020. Before joining IU, Klein was on the faculty of Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law.
Nasser Paydar announced his retirement as chancellor in July 2021 and will conclude his duties March 1.
