New IU tradition set: ‘Gear Up Friday’

Starting on Sept. 2, the Indiana University community will begin a new tradition: “Gear Up Friday.”

From Hoosiers to Red Wolves to Jaguars, the IU family will reflect the pride its staff, faculty and students feel in the university itself, as well as wrap up the week with a unique spirit of celebration.

“This new tradition is a way for our students, staff, faculty, alumni and other members of the IU family to loudly proclaim their pride in our university,” said IU President Pamela Whitten. “I’m excited to see our campus communities showing off their IU gear in support of this university that is home to students from all over the world, renowned faculty and hard-working staff.”

Share a photo of yourself, your family or your pet wearing IU gear on social media, tagging Indiana University or campus-specific accounts, and using the hashtag #gearupfridays.
