Staff, faculty and students looking for something to eat and drink while at Wells Library have three new menu concepts to choose from at Bookmarket Eatery. The refreshed menu also reflects lower prices for meals, and extra seating has been added.
The three new concepts, which opened at the start of the semester, are:
- Mio: Featuring hot sandwiches, such as Philly steak and chicken parmesan, pizza, fresh salads and vegetarian chicken.
- Sear No Evil: Grilled foods, such as burgers and beyond burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken tenders and chicken tender sandwiches.
- Wild Blue: Sushi, poke bowls and, starting in late October or early November, boba tea.
“The change in menu was primarily focused on adapting to the changing dining trends that we have seen across campus,” said London Christopher, retail manager. “For example, adding more vegan and vegetarian options and adding more health-conscious items to our menu, these are growing demographics that we are seeing with our guests.”
The two carryover menu concepts are Hubbard and Craven coffee — currently offering seasonal pumpkin and apple flavors — and the Globe, which features food from local vendors.
Christopher said she is also working with David Tallent, IU Dining’s executive chef, and Drew Smith, general manager of Campus Cafes, to add specialty items to the menu for Fridays and possibly Sundays.
Smith said combo meals, which include an entrée, side dish and drink, are now offered. They range from about $9 to $13, depending on which entrée is selected.
About 300 additional seats were added, bringing total seating to about 650. Christopher said the changes have been well received by patrons.
“It’s been pretty good so far in terms of the feedback we’ve gotten,” she said. “We’ve received comments about the prices going down and the extended vegetarian and vegan options.”
