Employees at Indiana University will receive two additional paid holidays in December this year.
“Our university’s progress and successes are a direct reflection of your dedication and the contributions you make every day,” IU President Pamela Whitten said in the announcement about the additional holidays. “On behalf of the entire leadership team at IU, please enjoy this well-deserved time away during the upcoming holiday season.”
The additional holidays will be observed this year on Friday, Dec. 23, and Friday, Dec. 30. These university-wide holidays will complement existing holidays that will be observed Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2.
IU offices will close on these new holidays; however, the university remains open and will continue to provide essential services. Eligible employees who do not provide essential service are excused from work while receiving regular pay for these additional days.
Additional information for staff is available from IU Human Resources, which has published an FAQ to answer common questions. Faculty and student employees should seek guidance from their school or department for how this change may affect them.
