IUPUI Today put together a diverse list of options, including some that offer deals and discounts.

Festival of Trees

IU pride is on display at the Indiana Historical Society’s annual Festival of Trees. A cream-and-crimson themed tree, sponsored by the Kelley School of Business Physician MBA program, is one of over 75 elaborately decorated trees featured in the exhibit. The Festival of Trees is open through Jan. 7.

IUPUI men’s and women’s basketball games

Students get free admission to all IUPUI home sporting events with a valid Crimson Card and are also eligible for a winter break special: two additional complimentary tickets to basketball games from Dec. 17 to Jan. 9.

It will be a festive atmosphere Dec. 17 at Indiana Farmers Coliseum, when the men’s basketball team hosts its annual Holiday Hoops Game and Toy Drive benefiting the Ruth Lilly Women & Children’s Center. Fans who donate a toy receive complimentary admission. There will be caroling in the lobby and holiday themes throughout the game. The Jags also play at home Dec. 31 and Jan. 2.

The women’s basketball team, the defending Horizon League champions, play in the Jungle (Natatorium) Dec. 15, 21 and 30 and Jan. 1.

The Dec. 15 game is a Faculty and Staff Discount Day. Show your employee ID to the ticket seller on game day to receive one complimentary ticket.

Christmas at the Zoo

The Indianapolis Zoo’s holiday light display is a tradition that dates to 1967. The experience has grown over the decades and now includes Santa’s barn, a special penguin encounter, rides, storytelling and much more.

Christmas at the Zoo is open through Dec. 30. IUPUI employees and students are eligible for discounted zoo tickets.

Winter Farmers Market

This winter, you can spend a Saturday morning strolling through a farmers market without worrying about cold temperatures and other weather conditions. Local vendors selling fruit, vegetables, dairy products, baked goods, crafts and more can be found inside The AMP at 16 Tech, just steps away from the Eskenazi Fine Arts Center, near 16th Street and Indiana Avenue.

The Winter Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Saturday through April 29, except for closures Dec. 24 and 31.

Tinseltown

Billed as a place “where every day is Christmas,” the pop-up party place is overflowing with holiday cheer. In addition to dazzling decorations, visitors can enjoy festive music, a Christmas cocktail menu and endless Instagram-worthy photo opportunities.

The venue is downtown at 302 S. Meridian St. and is usually only for a 21-and-older crowd, with some family friendly sessions available. Tinseltown is open through Dec. 30.
