Call for proposals, poster abstracts, panelists

The goal of the Staff Council Professional Development Mini-Conference is to provide a day of free professional development to IUPUI staff members to advance their professional identity, knowledge and contacts.

This theme of year’s conference, held May 19 in the Campus Center, is “Vision 23 & Me: DNA of Career Development.” Staff members are invited to present a workshop proposal, present a poster abstract and/or participate in a panelist opportunity during the conference.

Interested staffers should email Beth Chaisson at echaisso@iu.edu and Stacy Files at sfiles@iupui.edu by March 17.

Email questions to Leslie Albers at lealbers@iu.edu.

Proposals

Organizers are seeking proposals that promote creative and positive career development in support of the conference learning objectives, which are to:

  • Extend the attendees’ knowledge of resources and introduce new theories, expand on current theories, methods, or tools to grow in their career, with a focus on content for all staff levels and repeating concurrent sessions.
  • Provide different presentation formats to offer special experiences and enhance the learning environment, with a focus on increasing “a-ha” moments, transferable learning and creating a call to action.
  • Provide the attendees with new skills or simply refresh the attendees’ interests in and enthusiasm for managing their career success, with a focus on creating a safe environment to encourage participation, encouraging networking, and learning.

Poster abstracts

Participants can share tips, tricks and best practices specific to IUPUI career development for a poster session titled “Best Tips and Ideas on Career Development & Growth.”

Panelists
