A series of monthly presentations is furthering the IUPUI Center for Translating Research Into Practice’s mission of promoting and broadcasting the important research of IUPUI’s faculty members.

Professor Annela Teemant The March speaker for the Center for TRIP Scholar of the Month Conversation Series is Annela Teemant, a professor in the School of Education whose research focuses on improving teacher preparation for multilingual learners.

Using quasi-experimental, qualitative and mixed methods research designs, she studies how teacher pedagogy, job-embedded coaching and in-service teacher credentialing impact student (language) learning.

Teemant also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses about inclusive learning communities, second language literacy, assessment, critical sociocultural pedagogy for content-based learning and research design.  

The presentation, “Reframing Teacher Learning as a Mirrored Process of Becoming,” will explore how her translational research is improving learning environments for students and teachers.
