Spring 2023 tuition benefit deadline approaches

If you, your spouse or your children are taking IU courses this spring, make sure to apply for the IU tuition benefit by March 30.

Eligibility

The IU tuition benefit reduces the cost of IU courses for full-time faculty and staff, medical and optometry residents, and former employees with IU retiree status. The benefit is also available to spouses and tax-dependent children under age 24.

Benefit amounts

For employees and spouses, the benefit is a subsidy toward tuition costs up to a specific dollar maximum per semester. For children, the benefit is 50 percent of tuition costs at the Indiana resident undergraduate rate, up to either the completion of a bachelor’s degree or 140 credit hours of IU tuition benefit awards, whichever comes first.

How to apply

To apply for the spring 2023 benefit, employees must complete the online application no later than March 30. New students must register for courses before applying for the benefit. A new application must be submitted each academic year, and a separate application must be submitted for each campus of enrollment.

If you’re unsure if you’ve already applied for the benefit, or if you need to make changes to your application, contact askhr@iu.edu before March 30. After you’ve registered for classes, you can also check the student’s bursar account for the Tuition Benefit.

More details about eligibility, rates, deadlines and how to apply are available on the IU tuition benefit page. For questions, contact askhr@iu.edu.
