Tired of your textbook? Join us at IU Libraries from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 5 to learn about other course material options, including free resources that can be edited and enhanced.
Faculty will hear directly from instructors who have adopted affordable materials and learn how students received their new materials. Lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m., and an RSVP is required to ensure enough seats are available.
Open educational resources are teaching and learning resources that reside in the public domain or have been shared under a license that allow others to freely use and revise them. Open educational resources can include entire courses, course materials, textbooks, multimedia or teaching techniques.
IU designated Sarah Hare as its open education resources librarian in 2022. She offers individual consultations as well as organizes the annual Course Material Fellowship Program and, new in 2023, the OER Summer Sprint.
Hare has created and maintains a comprehensive online guide for IU instructors interested in open educational resources.
