VP for international affairs to be visiting scholar

Hannah Buxbaum, Indiana University vice president for international affairs and the John E. Schiller Chair in Legal Ethics in the IU Maurer School of Law on the Bloomington campus, has been named the Robbins Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law for 2023-24.

In that capacity, she will engage in teaching and research in the area of comparative civil law. She will begin her professorship at Berkeley on Aug. 1 and will return to IU and resume her role as vice president for international affairs on June 1, 2024.

During this time, Hilary Kahn — IU associate vice president for international affairs, associate vice chancellor for international affairs at IUPUI and associate professor of anthropology at IUPUI — will serve as interim vice president.

Kahn served previously as assistant dean in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies and director of the Center for the Study of Global Change. She is currently a member of the National Academy for International Education and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities’ Commission on International Initiatives Executive Committee.
