From the Desk: Chancellor celebrates launch of strategic plan

IU Strategic plan icons Since fall 2022, when President Pamela Whitten announced the IU 2030 strategic planning initiative, more than 1,400 faculty, staff and students across the state have been working together to create strategic plans that will have significant impact on Indiana University, our campus and the communities we serve.

So, as you can imagine, I’m very pleased to echo President Whitten’s Tuesday announcement that the Board of Trustees officially endorsed IU 2030, including our campus’s ambitious goals.

I want to acknowledge all of the faculty, staff and students who worked tirelessly to develop a comprehensive seven-year strategic plan for IUPUI that focuses on the core pillars of student success, research and creative activity, and service to the state. The plan guides our future direction and highlights our aspirations for IU Indianapolis. Whether you participated on one of the committees, submitted feedback online or simply engaged in strategic planning conversations with your colleagues, your efforts have made a significant impact.

While it’s important for us to be forward-thinking, the plan also captures aspects of our campus culture that are genuinely meaningful to so many of us, and that are important for maintaining the positive aspects of IUPUI we want to sustain. To that end, the plan clearly acknowledges our strong connection to the local community and our pride in being a place where issues of inclusion and equity are taken seriously and addressed openly.

Please take some time to learn more about our vision and core focus areas by visiting the IU Indianapolis 2030 website. We will continue to share updates, including the plans we are putting in place to facilitate implementation, online and via IUPUI Today.

I want to thank everyone again for helping us reach this point, and I look forward to seeing the great progress we are going to make as we move forward together.

Andrew Klein is interim chancellor of IUPUI.
