Campus parking reminds employees about license plate recognition program

Enforcement of license plate recognition and the use of hang tags will be mandatory for parking on the IU Bloomington campus in 2023-24.

The license plate recognition program dictates that all parked vehicles must display a state-issued license plate facing the driving lane. If your vehicle lacks a state-issued license plate on its front, you must obtain a special IU plate from the Office of Parking Operations if you wish to back into or pull through parking spaces.

Current parking permits expire on June 30. Permits for 2023-24 are now available for purchase through the IU Parking Portal or the Office of Parking Operations in the Henderson Garage. After purchasing a new permit, a temporary permit may be printed and displayed in the vehicle until the permanent hang tag arrives.

Only one 2023-24 permit can be paid for using the payroll deduction option. Any additional permits must be paid for at the time of purchase.

The Office of Parking Operations allows the purchase, return and exchange of permits at any time during the academic year. Up to five vehicles may be added to a person’s parking account.

For information on the go, the IU Mobile app includes details about parking lots and garages.

Questions about permit requirements and availability should be directed to the Office of Parking Operations at askpark@indiana.edu.
