Photo by Liz Kaye, Indiana UniversityIn an effort to provide opportunities for taking just one more photo at Wood Fountain, attending a school celebration and visiting with friends and loved ones, university officials have shifted the day and time of the May 2024 combined commencement ceremony for undergraduate and graduate students.

The IUPUI Commencement ceremony will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at Carroll Stadium.

“Combining our festivities into an evening ceremony provides more opportunity to honor our amazing graduates in a central campus-wide celebration, building on the many school recognition events that celebrate the camaraderie and spirit of our students,” IU President Pamela Whitten said. “The combined ceremony will help us more fully honor our hard-working, high-achieving students on this very important day in their lives.”

The ceremony itself, which will still include an abundance of decorated mortarboards and the unmistakable strains of “Pomp and Circumstance,” will be infused with a new excitement through the celebration of the remarkable achievements of the university’s students.

And graduates will still link arms to join together to sing the official alma mater as they turn their tassels and become alumni.
