IUPUI faculty and staff interested in joining the Jaguar Coping and Resilience Team, or JagsCARE, are invited to training sessions in October.
Participants will learn how to provide immediate and short-term support and interventions to campus community members involved in a potentially traumatic event or critical incident.
JagsCARE aims to help individuals:
- Experience a sense of community, connection and care.
- Feel normalized in their thoughts, feelings and responses.
- Learn coping tools to alleviate initial post-trauma impacts/symptoms.
- Connect to follow-up support and resources if needed.
Training sessions will be held in the Counseling and Psychological Services office in Lockefield Village from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and 11. Participants must attend both days of training. Register by Oct. 4.
No prior training or experience in providing mental health support services is required.
Questions can be sent to Brittany Snyder at snyderbn@iu.edu or Petra Batek at pbatek@iu.edu.
