All IU offices to close for week during December

This year, all offices on all Indiana University campuses across the state will close the week of Dec. 25 to 29, IU President Pamela Whitten recently announced.

“This additional time off is intended to recognize the dedication of our hard-working staff and faculty, who provide such deep support for our students and university year-round,” Whitten said. “I hope this additional downtime leaves our staff and faculty rested and recharged to move into the new year.”

On these additional holidays, eligible staff employees are excused from work and will receive their regular pay. This one-time closure is in addition to the university’s observed legal holidays on Monday, Dec. 25, for Christmas and Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, for New Year’s Day.

All offices will additionally close on Dec. 26 to 29, except where continuous service is required. Premium pay is available to eligible staff employees who are required to work during these additional university-supported holidays. Departments are currently determining what, if any, continuous services are required over the extended break. As with other university-recognized holidays, supervisors will let staff know in advance if they are required to work these additional holidays so staff should work with their supervisors to appropriately plan their schedules during this period.
