Year-end guide to IU employee benefits

By IU Human Resources

December 06, 2023

As we approach the end of 2023, IU Human Resources shares some tips and reminders related to IU employee benefits in the upcoming year.

Combat holiday stress. The holidays can be a time of joy and celebration. Still, they often cause stress, anxiety, depression or other mental health concerns, particularly when juggling the demands of work and home. Employees are encouraged to visit the IU Workplace Mental Health website for tips, resources and ways to connect with professional support.

Watch for new medical ID cards. Employees enrolled in the Anthem PPO HDHP should watch their home mailbox for their 2024 Anthem ID card. The only change is the deductible and out-of-pocket maximum amounts listed on the front of the card. Anthem will mail cards through USPS unless the member signed up to receive digital cards only. All other groups can continue using their existing cards.

Sign up for Anthem’s Sydney Health app. If you haven’t already, all medical plan members are strongly encouraged to sign up for Anthem’s Sydney Health app. This app offers 24/7 access to your medical plan coverage, including cost comparisons for medical services; a search option to look up in-network providers; digital ID cards; benefit and claim details; virtual telehealth visits with a doctor; and more.

Don’t forget your annual preventive care. Champion your well-being by staying on top of your preventive health care in 2024. These essential check-ups, including physicals, labs, cancer screenings, well-child visits and immunizations, are covered at 100% by IU medical plans. Review the list of covered services to learn what’s recommended for your age.

Review the prescription drug formulary. The list of drugs approved for coverage can change periodically during the year. Even if your medications have stayed the same, regularly check them against the most up-to-date formulary.

Consent to receive your 1095-C electronically. IU Human Resources will issue 1095-C tax forms for 2023 by March 1, 2024. If you haven’t already, consent to receive yours electronically instead of by mail by visiting the Employee Center.

Sign up for webinars and wellness events. The IU Human Resources events calendar includes upcoming events from IU benefits vendors such as Fidelity and Care.com, as well as Healthy IU and IU Human Resources. Regular additions to the calendar ensure there is always something new to discover.
