Over the years, he worked his way into the position of associate dean for communication and technology, honing his skills as a leader, collaborator and administrator.

His research centers on the development of practical, translational methods of creating change and reflections on outcomes, an asset in providing ongoing strategic leadership related to faculty work and success. Miller will coordinate closely with the associate vice chancellor for faculty diversity and inclusion and will represent the campus in policy discussions and in other academic systems.

Miller is an alumnus of the Next Generation 2.0 leadership development program and previously served as a faculty fellow in the Office of Academic Affairs. He was named an innovator and “mover and shaker” by Library Journal in 2016 and was honored with the 2023 Innovation Fellow Award from the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering, where he is an adjunct professor in the Department of Library and Information Science.

“Our office is very pleased to welcome Willie Miller,” Ferguson said. “His leadership experience in the library and as a faculty fellow in Academic Affairs, coupled with his role as vice president of the Indianapolis faculty council, means he has a truly remarkable combination of skills that will be perfectly suited to his new role.”
